Le 15 mars - finish up any overdue work - Friday is the end of term 2.  Go to www.engrade.com to check if you are missing any assignments. 
 1.) Finish - Faire crossword / translations with Passé Composé on the back.

 2.)  Find basic information (in french) about your preferred athlete / sports team / broadcaster, as we will be starting our project next week.  (Basic information like : Age, Name, Date of Birth, Hometown, Current town, things they like, people they talk to, etc)

Le 23 fevrier - translate the comic on Pages 71-74.

Le 14 fevrier - La Saint-Valentin!  Great presentations today.  The test is on Thursday afternoon - I will be in the classroom at lunchtime on Thursday for any help you may need.

Le 10 Fevrier - You will be presenting your projects on Tuesday.  Your Valentine's Day Project is also due on Tuesday (February 14 - coincidentally Valentine's Day!).

 - You will be reading an article about music, and responding to questions that will tell me whether or not you understand what you are reading.

Unit 2 test. 



Le 2 février - Your rough draft for your project is now overdue.  You have to complete the adverbs / adjectives worksheet (that corresponds with Page 52 of your textbook), and the "IR" verbs worksheet.

Le 31 janvier  - For Thursday, you MUST complete your rough draft of your music project, and you have a quiz on the verbs: avoir, etre, aller, pouvoir, and vouloir. 

Le 27 Janvier - Your rough draft of your music project is due on Tuesday.  

 Le 26 janvier - Collected homework.  We wrote a quiz on adjectives, and adverbs.  There was a purple worksheet on pronouns and "er" verbs, that is for homework.  We also worked on your music presentations.  Be prepared to work on them tomorrow. 

Mardi le 24 janvier - we corrected the homework (doubled sided translations with adjectives and adverbs).  We then did the HMV Reading activity (which is on page 46 of the text, and page 29 of the yellow booklet).  After that, we did Faisons de la "pub" an activity where you had to come up with publicity slogans for the albums that were given, by using  an adverb, followed by an adjective (there is a list at the bottom of the activity). 
  There is a quiz on adverbs and adjectives on Thursday (know how to define them in French, and how to identify them).  Know how to make the adjective and the noun agree (do you add an "s" "es", "e", or does it change form completely?)
  For homework, you are responsible for the double sided worksheet (Les meilleurs des meilleurs/ les opinions personnelles). 
  Come prepared to work on your project on Thursday.  If you are not prepared, you will not get any more class time. 

Le 19 janvier - We wrote the P. 59 Vocabulary Quiz.  Then we did some notes on Adverbs - reviewed what we had learned about Adjectives / and the Superlative.  We talked about your new project - which is a television segment on something related to music.  You ar working by yourself, but it is part of the collective television show that six of you are working on together (groups were already predetermined).  For homework, you have to have your idea about what your segment is going to be about.  You also have to complete the double sided worksheet that is about adverbs and adjectives. 
You will have a test on adverbs and adjectives next week as well.   

 Le 17 janvier - We did some vocabulary on "time" (Yesterday, tomorrow, midnight, etc) .  Then we watched a little bit of TinTin, and played Family Feud to review for a vocabulary quiz on Thursday (Page 59 of your text book).

Le 10 janvier

1.)  If you are going to re-write your verb quiz, or you were away when we originally wrote it - you can do so tomorrow (January 11) in Room 150 (that's just across the hall from our classroom). 

2.)  Make sure that you are familiar with the vocabulary that we have been learning so far (at the back of the chapter) - along with the worksheets that I have been giving you. 

3.)  We worked on "Bye Bye, Mon Cowboy" - P. 41-44 in your textbook, and did The "En famille" section of the yellow work package (Page 27).  Please familiarize yourself with the vocabulary, and understanding what is going on in the short story.

4.)  We started "Sondage Musique" which is the first page of the yellow booklet - you are to ask someone the questions listed, and record their responses.   

Le 5 janvier, 2012!

1.)  The quiz that we wrote today is the type of thing that you are going to be seeing more often, so if you felt that it was a challenge, you should practice your verbs and vocabulary more often.

2.)  Les Instruments - the white worksheet that had 6 questions on it - if it was not done in class, it is homework.

3.)  We completed listening activities A and B on Page 30 of your yellow booklet (DO NOT LOSE the booklet).

4.)  Try to find some French music that you enjoy.

5.)  Start reading / listening to the radio / watching movies in French - this will help you increase your fluency. 

Le 3 janvier, 2012!

1.)  If you did not complete the green worksheet over the break, you must do so, as we are marking it on Thursday

2.)  Journal : Qui est ton musicien ou ta musicienne préféré(e)?  Ou ton groupe de musique préféré?  Pourquoi?

3.)  Verb quiz on Thursday- it will be a fill in the blank quiz (you will have to choose which verb [danser, écouter, chanter, avoir, être and prendre] and you will have to conjugate it according to the subject of the sentence)   For example : Mes amis ____________ les chansons à la radio.  Here, you would put écoutons - because mes amis = ils, and that is the verb that best fits.

   

Le 15 Decembre

1.)  The green worksheet must be done for the first day back to school (Jan 3) - Underline the pronoun, and circle the verb - it is attached in case you lost it, "didn't get it", etc.   

2.)  Your journals will be collected in January - we have done 5 so far.
Make sure that they are thought out, well-written, etc.

B.)  A review Entry - in preparation for the test

Le 9 Decembre - Please try your best to work on the Expressions with Food Worksheet.  

Le 6 Decembre - Thank you to everyone who presented their projects this morning - well done!

We started to work on a Review Package for the Unit Test (that is on Friday December 9th).  This review package is for homework - complete it, and bring your questions to class on Thursday.

The Unit test will have :

Vocabulary (Text Book P. 29 - All of the vocabulary that we learned in class - copied from overhead)

 

The Partitive Article (du / de la / des / d' / de / de l') - which follows a negative?  What about an expression of quantity?  Which is masculine?  Feminine?  

"EN" - the pronoun that means "some of it /  some of them" - used instead of repeating the partitive article.  
For example : Je veux des frites.  J'en veux.  Je n'aime pas de lait.  Je n'en aime pas. (notice the placing of the negative).  The "EN" replaced "des frites" and "de lait" - so you don't have to write those again.

Translations - you should know "ER" verbs, prendre, comprendre, etc.  The verbs that we have frequently used in class.

Listening activity - you will be required to listen to a short dialogue and then you will have to match the food to the proper person. 

   

Le 1er Decembre - 1) Your Project is due on December 6th - you will be presenting on that day.
Remember you have to have these components : Menus / A slogan / Restaurant Name / Floor Plan / A review (at least 50 words) / 3 Testimonials (can be just once sentence, followed by the person's name) - please open the attached assignment if you have lost / forgotten your rubric - criteria for marking.

Le 8 NOVEMBRE - Les articles Partitifs - finish both the blue and the pink worksheets.  (De + le = du / de + la = de la / de + l' = de l' / de + les = des)  Don't forget that negative is always just De or D' (Je ne mange pas de pommes). 

Test Re-write Thursday at lunch...if you did not do as well as you had hoped to, please come and try the re-write. 

LE 3 NOVEMBRE - P. 7 - you have to create a list of all sorts of fast foods that you know.  Part B - choose the fast food that best fits in each description (ie : un peu salé = a little salty = les frites).

LE 1 NOVEMBRE - You are responsible for translating all of the vocabulary from Page 7 (we covered most of these in class) - I suggest that you fold a paper in half, and put the English on one half, with the French on the other half - that way, when you are studying, you are able to see if you remember them. 

Mon Monstre!  Create a monster, label 10 body parts (label with "Le, La, or Les").  Give your monster a name.  Write 5 sentences about what your monster likes, dislikes, or anything else (remember to use the sentence structure :  subject + verb + necessary information)
